Time Management -Prioritizing Tasks
The Process
Here is a step by step walkthrough of the design process for this project using the ADDIE model.
-
At first, we had planned to do an in depth module detailing all the different brands of bicycles that the shop carries. Along with that, we would include basic tips and tricks for bicycle maintenance. After a few iterations at the storyboarding process, we decided to trim the project down out of the fear of making it feel too much like an employee training module.
We decided to reframe the module to make it feel more like like a digital information brochure that first time customers can browse at or before they arrive at the store. In order to decide what information to include in our project, we consulted with the sales team to see what new customers are most curious about. We found that most first time customers do not want to know about brands or maintenance. Instead, they would rather gain a basic understanding on the different varieties of bicycles and their functions.
-
In order to stay true to feeling of an information brochure, we narrowed down the authoring tools of choice down to Canva and Articulate Rise. There were a few iterations created on Canva, but we noticed that the design and format of the tool caused project to become very cluttered and hard to maneuver.
That is when we shifted over to Articulate Rise. In Rise, we liked how we could include all of the necessary information and also organize them in more digestible chunks to reduce the cognitive load on the learners.
-
Gagne's 9 Events were also referenced to provide structure for this project.
Inform learners of the objective: The learning objective was presented at the beginning of the module to provide a clear goal and direction for the experience.
Provide learning guidance: Learners are guided through the characteristics of different types of bikes and when to use them through different interactions.
Eliciting performance: After learning about the different characteristics, learners are given the opportunity to apply their knowledge in a short assessment.
-
The project will be posted on the front page of the bike shop website to allow learners to access prior to coming to the store. The client also plans on setting up a station to let customers have access to it in the store as well.
-
To evaluate the success of the project we have to look at sales and customer data to evaluate if the project did meet it's goal of increasing customer retention and increasing sales.
